Frequently asked questions
What is AcademyAI?
AcademyAI is the AI capability platform for modern organisations. It assesses your workforce's real AI capability, builds it through role-specific learning, and gives you proof you can take to the board. The model is: assess, train, prove.
What problem does AcademyAI solve?
Most organisations have already bought AI tools, but their people do not yet have the skills to use them well. Adoption is unstructured and unmanaged: employees use AI without formal training or standardised workflows, and leadership has no way to tell genuine capability from surface-level confidence. AcademyAI closes the gap between AI adoption and AI outcomes.
What does “assess, train, prove” actually mean?
Assess: a structured assessment of judgement, output quality and applied knowledge, distinguishing real capability from surface confidence. Train: targeted, role-specific micro-learning matched to each person's capability gaps, grounded in your organisation's own tools and language. Prove: a capability score, at individual, team and organisation level, plus AcademyAI certification, a credential with external credibility. It is a loop, not a one-off course: the assessment repeats and the curriculum adapts as capability moves.
What are the six capabilities?
Literacy: knows what AI can and cannot do, and the language to use it well. Safe and responsible use: applies AI safely and ethically across privacy, security and bias. Framing: evaluating opportunity and defining a clear goal. Specification: understanding how to apply AI to workflows that deliver efficient and reliable results. Application: puts AI to work inside real tasks and workflows. Evaluation and reflection: judges the accuracy, quality and risk of what AI produces. The framework is grounded in the Turing Institute framework.
Is AcademyAI a learning management system (LMS)?
No. A generic LMS delivers content and tracks completion. AcademyAI assesses real capability, not just usage or attendance, and produces a score that can be reported to leadership, auditors or clients.
Is AcademyAI a consultancy?
No. Enterprise AI transformation consultancies are typically out of reach for organisations below enterprise scale, and their engagements are usually one-off. AcademyAI is always-on infrastructure: a platform, not a project.
Who is AcademyAI built for?
Organisations with a significant proportion of knowledge workers, where people already use AI but capability is uneven. Common sectors include professional services, legal, consulting, investment management, education, technology and proptech. The typical buyer is a CEO, MD, L&D, or HR leader that has invested in AI tools but is questioning the outcome and wants to build true organisation-wide AI capability.
Does AcademyAI work for individual learners, not just leadership?
Yes. Every knowledge worker gets role-specific learning built around their own gaps, not generic content. The frame for individual learners is opportunity, not compliance: people who get genuinely good at AI tend to do the most interesting work.
How is AcademyAI different from generic AI training (webinars, LinkedIn Learning, one-off workshops)?
Generic training treats every role the same and is typically delivered as a one-off event: an all-hands webinar or a block of online modules. It produces low engagement and little behaviour change. AcademyAI trains by role, not by organisation, with content grounded in your own tools, policies and language, and the training is continuous rather than a course to check off.
Does AcademyAI replace the need to choose AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot?
No, and it is not trying to. AcademyAI is deliberately tool-agnostic. The six capabilities it measures and builds apply to whichever AI tools your organisation uses today, and will keep applying if that changes. Tools are transient. Judgement, evaluation and applied capability are not.
Why does AcademyAI focus on capability rather than a specific AI model or tool?
Because the tools and models available today are unlikely to be the same ones in wide use in three to five years. Betting workforce training entirely on mastery of one tool or one model provider is a bet on which vendor wins a race that has not been decided. AcademyAI bets on the underlying capability instead: the ability to frame a problem well, specify the right task, apply AI to it, and evaluate what comes back, regardless of which tool sits underneath.
What proof does AcademyAI give leadership?
A capability radar showing scores across all six measurements, by team and by role, plus manager dashboards and AcademyAI certification. This is board-ready evidence of workforce AI readiness, not an activity report.
How is this different from just tracking who uses AI tools the most?
Usage data shows activity, not capability. Someone can open an AI tool fifty times a day and still produce poor-quality, unverified work. AcademyAI's assessment measures judgement, output quality and applied knowledge, which is what actually predicts good outcomes.
Where does the training happen?
Wherever your team already works: desktop, browser, phone and Slack. AcademyAI does not require people to adopt a new environment or a separate login.
How long does a typical training module take?
Modules are short and applied, built for real work schedules rather than dedicated training days. Content is role-specific: what a product manager needs is different from what a data analyst or a designer needs.
Does the content stay up to date as our organisation and its tools change?
Yes. Courses are grounded in your organisation's actual tools, policies and language, and the curriculum adapts as the capability radar shows where gaps remain. This is an always-on platform, not a static set of modules.
What is a Transformation Hero?
A peer-learning feature: the workflows of an organisation's own top AI performers are captured and packaged into short, shareable courses for the rest of the team. It is governed, scalable peer learning, not informal tips shared over Slack.
How does AcademyAI compare to other AI training platforms?
Most alternatives fall into one of three categories: generic training and community platforms (for example, Mindstone), regulated apprenticeship providers (for example, Multiverse), or tool-specific mastery platforms (for example, Pair.ai). AcademyAI is the only one of the four built specifically around a scored, repeatable capability assessment tied to role-specific training and board-ready proof, independent of any single AI tool. See the individual comparison pages for a full feature-by-feature breakdown.
Is AcademyAI regulated or accredited?
AcademyAI is not an Ofsted-regulated training provider and is not delivered through the UK Apprenticeship Levy. Its assessment framework is grounded in the Turing Institute framework, and AcademyAI certification is a credential organisations can show to leadership, auditors and clients.
What evidence supports the problem AcademyAI is solving?
Independent research backs it up. Notion's 2026 Global AI Transformation Study (n=6,118 across 10 markets) found that 88% of organisations are still at the earliest stages of AI adoption, and that 55% of AI decision makers say their organisation is investing in AI faster than employees can learn it. PwC's Global AI Jobs Barometer (2026), based on more than a billion job ads, found that the skills needed for the most AI-exposed jobs are changing more than twice as fast as those for the least exposed, a gap that grew 75% in a single year.
